On October 21, 2014 starting at 9:00 am, Westover Hills Elementary School participated in "Read for the Record", a national reading day where many schools across the nation read the book Bunny Cakes to their students simultaneously. Westover Hills called on dozens of volunteers to read in classrooms as well as send in unfrosted cupcakes, frosting and paper products to help celebrate the theme Reading only took 1/2 hour but readers were welcome to stay longer to help with the cupcakes and many did.

The annual “Read for the Record” project, now in its eighth year, is intended to celebrate literacy by gathering children in libraries, schools and businesses around the world. Last year 2.46 million adults and children broke a world record by participating.

Thanks to everybody who pitched in - let's keep reading. (And you click below to read along with the story!)
