Richmond officials ask area legislators to fight to restore school funding

The city of Richmond’s elected officials on Monday tasked their delegation to the statehouse with working to restore funding for public schools when the Virginia General Assembly convenes in January.
A failure to reverse deep cuts made during the recession has led to a $1 billion cumulative reduction in state spending on public education since the 2009 fiscal year, officials said. [read more at TimesDispatch.com]
